Arriving in Lagos

If you arrive in Lagos by plane, always keep your baggage claim tickets with you, just if your luggage gets lost. Remember to have extra changing clothes and a few toiletries in your hand luggage. When you exit the airport, the airport staff will check your baggage tickets to ensure you have the right baggage and that no one else is taking yours.
When coming to stay at Nordic Hotel Lagos, you are welcome to write our address on your suitcase label, and we advise you to always label your suitcases clearly with your contact details.

In case of theft

One of the most common crimes experienced by travellers worldwide is bag snatching and the theft of cash/credit cards etc. Unfortunately, Lagos is no exception. Pickpockets often work in crowded areas like the open markets, which we do not advise you to go to.
Should you experience the unfortunate situation of getting robbed, stay as calm as possible, and do as you are told. Hand over your money and any other valuables without protesting. If you have been robbed, you should contact your country’s embassy or consulate in Lagos or Abuja as soon as possible – call Nordic Hotel Lagos if you need assistance.
Should you wish to read more about Lagos and Nigeria’s current situation, we recommend using the Embassy of the US, the British High Commission, or the Embassy of Germany and their security briefs.
The general recommendation is to limit travel to the North and North-East states; Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Taraba, Plateau, Bauchi, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, and Kogi. Further traveling to the southeast states; Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Cross Rivers is not advised. We recommend you liaise with your embassy or company travel policy.
Be sure always to keep an eye on your luggage when traveling. Never leave your luggage unattended in a public place. We advise that you let the official uniformed staff help with your luggage. If you are traveling with your spouse, a business partner, or friend, please help each other with your suitcases and keep an eye out.
