Operating hotels in Nigeria presents unique opportunities and challenges. While reliable public electricity remains limited and diesel generators continue to be an essential part of hotel operations, we constantly look for ways to reduce consumption, improve efficiency, and make better choices wherever we can.

Energy & Water
Reducing energy and water consumption is one of the most effective ways to lessen our environmental footprint.
Across our hotels, we have invested in:
- LED lighting throughout guest rooms and public areas
- Solar water heating systems
- Energy-efficient air-conditioning systems
- Modern building technologies designed to improve efficiency
- Responsible for housekeeping procedures that reduce unnecessary water and energy use
- Equipment selected for durability and long-term performance
Collectively, these initiatives are estimated to reduce electricity consumption by several hundred thousand kilowatt-hours each year compared with conventional hotel operations of a similar size.
Reducing Waste
Hospitality naturally generates waste, but much of it can be avoided, reused, or recycled.
Our teams work continuously to reduce waste by:
- Recycling plastic bottles, glass bottles, and aluminum cans
- Separating waste wherever practical
- Reducing unnecessary packaging
- Selecting durable products with longer life cycles
- Working with suppliers who share our commitment to responsible practices
Across our hotels, we estimate that many tens of thousands of bottles and cans are diverted from landfill each year through our recycling initiatives.
Thoughtful Products
The products we choose reflect the values we stand for.
Our in-room amenities are supplied by Skandinavisk, a certified B Corp company producing vegan products using responsibly sourced ingredients and packaging.
Throughout our hotels, we prioritize quality over disposability. We invest in furniture and materials designed to last for many years rather than replacing products frequently.
Selected furniture – including our office chairs – is manufactured using advanced recycled-plastic composites that contain more than 50% recycled material, without compromising durability or comfort.

Nigeria’s power infrastructure means hotels cannot yet operate without diesel generators. Rather than ignoring this reality, we focus on reducing our overall energy demand through efficient buildings, smarter equipment, solar water heating, and responsible operating procedures.
