Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art, Pan-Atlantic University

Africa’s biggest art collector, Prince Yemisi Shyllon has built this beautiful museum with more than 1000 pieces of art from his own collection. About a 1,5 hour drive from the hotel, but definitely worth the trip.

Established to be a link between the African and international art worlds, Rele Gallery is a powerful contemporary art gallery with 2 locations in Lagos, Nigeria and Los Angeles, USA. Rele represents and exhibits a fine selection of emerging and established artists working across diverse media in Africa and the diaspora. Nike Art Gallery

For years the number 1 place to visit in Lagos according to TripAdvisor, Nike Art Gallery is an art gallery in Lekki, Lagos owned by the famous Madame Nike Davies-Okundaye. The gallery is arguably the biggest of its kind in West Africa. A five-storey building with an incredible collection of about 8,000 diverse artworks from various Nigerian artists. You might be lucky enough to run into Madame Nike herself which is an institution in herself – incredible woman.

National Museum of Nigeria

The National Museum of Nigeria has a significant collection of Nigerian art. Ranging from pieces of statuary and carvings and archaeological and ethnographic exhibits. One of the big attractions is a terra-cotta human head – also known as the Jemaa Head which is a part of the Nok culture.
